Jimmy, you and Bobby save Fernie Ray and me a place up there!


William Bobby Gill, Sr.

A devoted loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, he was brought home by his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 27, 2011. He was born in Kentwood, a town he loved, and served as mayor for 24 years. Bobby started a grocery business in Kentwood in 1958 and sold his Sunflower Food Store in 1975. He is survived by two sons and two daughters, Sonny and wife Etta Gill, Gillsburg, Miss., Brenda and husband Bryant Gilbert, Walker, and Kenny and wife Tiffany Gill, and Carolyn Nettles, all of Kentwood; 10 grandchildren, William Bobby Gill III, Scott Gill, Mike Holmes, Mark Holmes, Adam Gill, Wendy Gill, Kenneth Gill, Kari Gill, Sammy Nettles and Pam Phillips; nine great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Carol Jean Gill, Spring Creek; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Jack Creel, Houston; and sister-in-law, Barbara Gill, Kentwood. Preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Myrtis Gill; former wife, Melva Easley Gill; brother, Jimmy Gill; and sons-in-law, Dale Holmes and Leo Nettles. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Renaissance Services.
